Blog Post 3 Naursicaa and how to watch a moive.

Summary 

In this films world, the earth has been destroyed by giant warriors which gave way for toxic/poisons jungle spores to consume the earth along with giant bugs that are easily provoked. These bugs are unknown protectors of an ecology cavern system below the jungle with fresh air and water. our protagonist is a popular botanist whom understands the importance of the nature around her and will likely use this knowledge to help her in her worldly endeavors. How to Watch a movie explains to the reader how people and or how the mind processes visual images and sounds and what to look for while watching a movie.

Reading How to Watch a Movie gave me insight on things to look for and understand going into Naursicaa. The writer explains how decisions may be made and what those decisions might portray. A related example is how Naursicaa falls asleep with the Ohm eye on top of her to protect her from the spores. This shows a comfort in environment and peace with with herself. The reading also talks about overlapping images or flashbacks and how those can be used to tell necessary information this is used when Naursicaa find a baby ohm and wants to keep it safe not understanding how dangerous it can be. this teaches her that people may not always understand her and that fear will prevent compassion. this is why she hid her secret botany room.

Question 

How do writers know the audience will understand their message? I would assume all they can do is hope and potentially bring extra attention to specific points.

Avatar the last airbender follows a group of children on their quest to reach the north pole, while avoiding an evil fire wizard, to help one of them learn magic tricks. in the episodes we see back stories from both the children and the fire wizard who in all don't seem to be that different from each other. The episodes are Kernels to the plot of the story and allows us to understand how the characters act. our readings describe television narrative structure, thinks like kernels, so that we can label discuss and dissect aspects in a show.   When Zukos mom disappeared, the fire lord at the time said that his son, zukos father, should pay for insisting that he being the next fire lord.
